Mary Rigg Staff Work Toward Certification at National Conference

Last month several members of Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center's Workforce Development team attended the annual conference for National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP). NAWDP is the premier association for workforce professionals from across the country. NAWDP advocates for the workforce industry and develops the professional capacity of workforce professionals seeking the highest standards of excellence in credentialing, applied learning opportunities, and cutting edge tools to excel in serving job seekers and business.

When an adult seeks employment services at Mary Rigg, such as Employment Coaching, Financial Coaching, vocational training, help with writing a cover letter or resume, or guidance in navigating a new career path, they are getting nationally recognized staff with the credentials to give our clients and families the best information possible. In turn, adults gain the skills necessary for finding and maintaining employment.

Mary RIgg Neighborhood Center's Director of Programs, Stephanie James, serves as the Indiana State Director on the NAWDP Board of Directors, where she currently chairs the New and Emerging Professionals initiative, designed to meaningfully engage young professionals in workforce development activities, mentorships and communications to ensure their perspectives and needs are being addressed.

Stephanie was designated as a Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP) by NAWDP in 2011 and three other Mary Rigg staff are in the process of also earning their CWDP credential, making Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center a leader in credentialed workforce professionals. Mary Rigg staff have presented and shared best practices at NAWDP’s annual conference several times, and staff regularly attend to network, engage in peer learning and professional development.

Special thanks to Stephanie James for her assistance with this blog post.
